Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage

Swedish massage is a great way to unwind from a long day at work, and is a great way to relive your body of daily stress. The lighter touch is soothing and refreshing. Paired with a hot stones you can find your happy place.

Deep tissue massage is also another great way to unwind from a long day of work. Unlike Swedish its a deeper more comprehensive massage with firmer pressure to get into those muscles and give them the care they have been missing for a while.

Lymphatic Massage
This kind of massage is great for people who are sensitive to touch or who have medical issues such as cancer or swelling. As long as there are no contraindications for the massage, work can be done. Often though this form of massage requires the approval of a licensed medical profession.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is a quick session usually about 30 minutes long. It is mostly popular with athletes or marathon runners. It is made up primarily of compression and stretching. At Practical Healing you will receive a minimum of a one hour massage.  This is so that your needs are meet especially since this is an athlete based massage. The nice thing about this massage is that you keep your clothes on so this massage is great for people who are not comfortable taking their clothes off for a massage but still want some of the benefits of receiving massage.
Hand and Foot Massage
Usually, two of the most ignored but, also two of the most important areas the hands and feet are always in need of that TLC they desperately need. The feet especially are important because they are your foundation to your body. And a body without a good foundation is a body in trouble.  While you can get your feet and hands massaged during a full body there is nothing quite like having just your feet focused on and the relief you can get from it.
Probably one of the things that most people forget to do or don't do often enough is stretching. At Practical Healing stretching is offered during a full body massage but, also it is offered as a session in itself. The benefits are astounding from being stretched and it is just as good if not better than a massage for some people. In our society today we are becoming less and less active and our muscles are becoming overly shortened or lengthened and cannot properly support our bodies and can cause us quite a bit of pain.

TMJ work is great for people who suffer from grinding, clenching, temporal headaches or tension headaches and a handful of other head and neck issues as muscles in the jaw can tighten up and cause pain. Using a gloved hand one finger is inserted into the mouth to massage small muscles that are not reachable from regular massage work.
Pre/Post Natal Massage

Pregnancy massage is a wonderful way to help relax the body for expecting mothers before and after the birth of their children. It can help aid in relieving muscle tension to the whole body, especially in the later months when things can get pretty uncomfortable for some. You will not be able to receive heavy pressure while pregnant especially for your legs but after the birth you can resume to normal massage pressures once you are ready for massage again. Your massage provider will ask you other related questions before starting your session.

Please talk to your doctor before scheduling an appointment to ensure that massage is safe for you while pregnant. Some cases will require a doctors note of approval for massage.
